Smarter Cash Drawer Control
Your cash drawer shouldn't pop open on every sale. It should only open when there's actually cash to handle.
That's the idea behind the newest cash drawer update built into the TillSense complete POS system. If you run a busy counter, you've probably noticed the habit: the drawer swings open on a card tap, even when no cash ever changes hands. It's a small thing, but it adds up fast, especially now that most South African shoppers are paying by card, account, or app instead of cash.
What's changed
Cash drawer control on your TillSense POS system is now smarter about when it actually opens. If a sale includes cash, whether that's a full cash payment or a split payment with cash involved, the drawer opens exactly as before. It also opens any time change needs to be given back, cash or otherwise.
But for fully cashless sales, card, account, or other non-cash payments where no change is due, the drawer now stays closed.
Why it matters for your business
For retailers, salons, and service businesses running mostly card and account payments, this cuts out an unnecessary step on every cashless transaction. Staff aren't opening and closing a drawer that never needed to be touched, and it's one less habit to train new employees out of.
There's a security upside too. A drawer that only opens when cash is actually involved means fewer unnecessary opens per shift, and a clearer link between "drawer open" and "cash moved" when reviewing your day's activity.
