Robotill vs Loyverse POS: Which Software Should You Choose?

If you've started shopping for a POS system in South Africa, you've probably come across both ROBOTILL and Loyverse — two of the most widely used POS platforms for small and growing businesses here. TillSense resells both, so we don't have a reason to steer you toward one over the other. Here's an honest look at how they actually differ, based on what's on their own sites plus what we see installing and supporting both.

How Each One Runs

This is the part most comparisons skip, and it shapes everything else.

ROBOTILL is desktop software installed on a Windows PC or Windows touchscreen till, with its own local database. Once set up, it works completely offline — no internet connection needed for daily trading, and your data stays on your own hardware.

Loyverse turns an Android or iOS tablet or phone into your till, backed by a cloud account. Sales still work offline if your connection drops, but reporting, employee management, and your Back Office dashboard rely on syncing.

In short: want a system that never depends on your internet connection and keeps everything local? ROBOTILL. Want to run your till from a tablet and check sales from your phone anywhere? Loyverse.

Pricing

Robotill is licensed per till, at R1,595 for 12 months or R2,795 for 24 months (VAT included) — roughly R117–R133/month depending on term. That covers the full feature set: unlimited products and sales, full reporting, loyalty programs, customer accounts, discounts, and supplier ordering.

Loyverse core POS is add-on based: Employee Management and Advanced Inventory run $25/month each, Unlimited Sales History $5/month, all priced per store in USD. For a business that wants employee tracking and stock control, those add-ons run higher over time than ROBOTILL's flat per-till licence.

Features Worth Knowing

Robotill's full feature set adds customer loyalty programs, tiered pricing, combo deals and coupons, supplier orders, lay-by, quotations, and dedicated Workshop (job cards for repairs) and Booking modules — strong for restaurants, repair shops, and rental businesses. Multiple branches are supported via an optional Head Office add-on.

Loyverse's strengths are its built-in Kitchen Display and Customer Display, multi-store management from one account, and a broad third-party integration marketplace. Its mobile-first design also lets staff check stock or sales from a personal phone without a dedicated back-office PC. Worth noting for South African businesses: Loyverse integrates with Yoco for local card payments.

Support: Who You Actually Call

Whichever software you choose, TillSense is your support line — not the software vendor. We handle setup, configuration, hardware troubleshooting, staff training, and ongoing support for both systems. If your till goes down or a printer stops responding, you call us — you're not submitting a ticket to a vendor overseas or waiting in a generic queue. That's one of the main reasons businesses buy through a local reseller instead of going direct: one point of contact who knows your setup, not just the software.

Which One Should You Choose?

Consider Robotill if:

  • You want offline reliability with no internet dependency

  • You run a restaurant, workshop, or rental/booking business and want those modules built in

  • You want flat, predictable licensing instead of monthly add-ons

  • You're comfortable with a Windows PC or touchscreen till as your hardware

Consider Loyverse if:

  • You're a single-store business that won't need Employee

  • You're a single-store business that won't need Employee Management or Advanced Inventory

  • You value a built-in Kitchen and Customer Display

  • You already use, or plan to use, Yoco for card payments

The Part That Doesn't Change

Whichever software you pick, the hardware it runs on and who you call when something breaks matter just as much as the software itself. That's what TillSense handles regardless of platform: installation, configuration, training, and ongoing support.

Not sure which one fits your business? Tell us a bit about what you sell and how you operate, and we'll recommend the right software and hardware combination — no pressure either way.
